6 Tips for a Healthy Mind and Body

Its not easy keeping an active mind and body while in isolation, here are some tips to stay healthy and sane.

Being in the moment

Being in the moment

A feeling of being trapped can harm us in more ways than we know. From stress to depression to chronic pain, negative emotions manifest within our bodies and minds. Luckily we can take control over these emotions and put our systems back in harmonious order.

Here are some simple hacks to improve the quality of your mind and body responses:

1) Get out in NATURE. The more you can do outside the better. Take your daily rituals into the open air, absorb the natural elements and synchronize with nature’s forces.

2) MOVE your body. Find a space in your home or outside to designate for your workout. You don’t need any fancy gear to get a proper workout, you can push yourself as hard or as lightly as you want with nothing but your body and a little bit of space. No excuses!

3) Take 1-5 mins to BE STILL. Let thoughts pass, the body relax, and allow for the benefits of your hard work to sink in. There is no main goal for this but trust that you will receive surprising results.

4) Find a RITUAL and do it CONSCIOUSLY. Whether its making your coffee, sitting by the window, calling your best friend, or brushing your teeth, use your ritual as a way to hone in on the moment. Be right there and give your full attention to the process. I make tea every morning and even though I’m usually half asleep, its one of my favorite parts of the day!

5) BREATHE. Throughout the day take a pause to focus on breathing. A simple technique that works for me is 3 deep breathes. Breathe in as long as you can and hold it at the top, breathe in a little more, and then release. Then repeat. It is an instant calming mechanism and helps me energize in the day and helps me fall asleep at night.

6) LISTEN to classical music. Not only is classical music good for the soul but it boosts endorphins AND boosts cognitive brain function on a cellular level. A healthy mind during a pandemic is critical!
